Optimisation of the rail last mile as support for an efficient management of the rail traffic in port areas thanks to an optimal use of the available resources: that is possible through innovative tools and approaches, which are able to both guarantee interoperability between the involved operators of the port community and offer decision support systems. An efficient organization and the possibility of monitoring the activities take part to the benefits offered by the implementation of optimization approaches and Digital Twin tools in the port rail shunting process.
